BUSINESS OF THE WEEK Shannon Oaks Church
This week, we are highlighting Shannon Oaks Church, a non-denominational family of faith in Christ here in Sulphur Springs. We got to meet with a few of the staff members this morning, and they are some of the nicest people you’ll ever come across! Pastor Eric Godwin told us that their mission is “to tell the world about the love of Christ and the gift of salvation and life available through Him.” 💚
Our #BOTW, Shannon Oaks Church, started out in the mid-1970’s with “a living room of people who were longing to see others know the freedom of a relationship with Jesus, without the baggage of religion.” At first, Shannon Oaks was in alignment with a mainstream denomination, but in 2003, leaders of the church “stepped out and embraced the opportunity to open [their] arms more broadly.” According to Pastor Eric Godwin, SOC values unity, the Bible, strong leadership, Godly homes, equipping saints, sharing the Gospel, the power of prayer, and worship. He also emphasized that, while the church is diverse in religious heritage and they have experienced change over the years, the hearts of their people have remained consistent! 🥰
